Arogers profile photo

Hello, I am buying my grandmothers home that my mom recently purchased because she said since my husband and I were not married at the time we could not buy the family home.(that we have been living in since last Oct and paid everything Taxes, home owners ins. so on) Well now we are married and we are in contract. They are charging us $14,000.00 more then they paid for it less then 8 months ago. We are Fine with that. She is getting ready to purchase a home for my sister and is giving her $15,500.00 for a downpayment so I asked if she would drop our price by $2000.00 to lower our payments by $100.00 a month. Well she tought I was telling her she was ripping us off and told me to be out in 30 days can she do that? We have added central air and MASSIVE yard work.(stump removals that were left hear and limbs) Can she tell us to leave in 30 days and drop her contract? I appreciate any feedback Thanks

Give us the details again, without all the family gossip thrown in (sorry, but the family situation is clouding your judgement). For this purpose, stop thinking of your mother as your mother, and think of her as your current landlord/seller.

Do you have a written lease for a certain period of time? Do you pay your rent monthly? I do not know landlord tenant laws in your area. In FL, if there is no lease, the landlord must give a 30 day written notice for the tenants to vacate. Verbal notice is not accepted.

Do you have a written purchase and sales contract? What is the contract price and when is the closing date?

    Brenda
