Deleted Posts

In my short tenure here at TCI I have had two posts removed. Computer glitch? Perhaps, but I doubt it. I presume the posts were deleted for a reason. I would like to know what that reason(s) was.

Please also note, there was no profanity, advertisment or inaccuracies within these posts.

The favor of a reply would be appreciated.

Your best bet would be to ask the moderator in the forum that you posted it. If it was in the two that I moderate, Private message me and I will find out. But If I deleted it personally you would have gotten a Private message from me as most of the other moderators do as well explaining the reason for deletion. Also a verbal kick to the shin for violating the rules.

More than likely it was either a computer glitch or the post was moved to a more appropriate area. For instance if someone asks a mobile home question in the Mobile home park forum, I move it to the Mobile home forum, and dont bother to tell the poster, as any reply to that post will show up in your mailbox. If however it was a computer glitch, no one can help you as the post is gone. Since I dont have all the information I am generally answering your question. If you need further help either PM me or a moderator in the forum that you had posted.

    Boston,

Per your request via pm, I'm reviewing this topic.

While it is possible, I too doubt that your posts were removed due to a computer glitch. Most likely, they were deleted by a moderator for, in their opinion, a forum rules violation OR in some cases, deleted because the wording or question asked will get you hammered with pm's and emails from board hustlers.

I have no idea what your posts were about, so I can't tell you why they were deleted. If you still have the content somewhere and want to pm it to me, I'll be happy to review it and let you know.

I will disagree with Kyle above on one point. If I delete your post, you probably will NOT get a pm from me explaining why. I have several forums to moderate and I delete many, many posts within a week. I simply don't have the time to explain is rules violation that people make. My general response to that is to read the forum rules and if that doesn't resolve it for you, then pm the moderators explaining that you didn't feel it violated the rules.

    Boston,

Raj has it nailed down, your post that was deleted would have to be reviewed, but I would think since you are a Broker this had something to do with it.

Somtimes we do have time to PM someone as to why their post was deleted, but the majority of the time there are just to many violations to notify each individual poster.

I am starting to remind posters as I did in this post.

    $$$

    There are other ways:

    1) Network. Network. Network.

    2) Seach your recorder's office for private note holders and contact them.

    3) http://www.thecreativeinvestor.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forum&file=faq#rules

    $$$

Number 3 was "call me" so I figured a reminder was in order. This also is a way of keeping track if a poster is abusing the board and again remind them about the rules.

Some of you reading this post have the potential to become Moderators, so you have to think we are here to keep the board free of hustlers, spammers, advertisers, etc., if someday you are selected what would your decision be when you see a violation of the rules?

Thanks for the responses. Although you cummulatively shed quite a bit of light on the subject, I am still unclear. In addition to the aforementioned, I have also read the previous posts covering this topic. Despite facts to the contrary, It sounds as if I was "hustling". (No offense taken- I do not expect moderaters to read my mind as to my intentions.)

I am very impressed with the site. It is forfilling to help others. It also keeps one "sharp". However, I must admit I have an ego concerning the value of my posts. I'm having a great time here. But I do not want to spend time responding to posts only to have them deleted. Your rules are your rules and I have no problem abiding by them. Notwithstanding the subjective nature of governing these rules, it would be very helpful to add more specifity to the posted rules. Any added clarity would be very helpful.

    Thank you for your consideration.
