Tax Deed Sales -texas, Houston

alexhouston profile photo

I just found out about tax deed sales and tax liens. I went to a millionare next door conference where I met Danko, and some real estate people selling informarion for $4,000.00. They say they do the research for you and get you set by set insturctions.

How should I get started?
What about Rogue Investor books?

Thank you for your time.
Alex

6 month redemption period vs 2 year redemption for homestead properties.

    Hey Alex,
Are you going to be doing tax lien stuff in other states or just in Texas?? If just Texas, you dont need to purchase info for all 50. Talk to people at the sale, take someone out to lunch at a fancy restaurant. If you spend $40.00 for lunch, I bet you will not only make a friend for life, but they will give you way more info than a $1,500 or $3,000 course will. If you take 5 people that you meet at the sale. Now, these would be people who REALLY know what they are doing, not newbies, it would cost $200 for a great round table discussion of experts in the area.

You might want to team up with someone who already buys at the sales. Ask them that you want to work for knowledge. Do research for someone, lets call him Mr. X, and in return, you get to ask questions and see how the deals are done. You will learn from X and he will take you under his wing because you are diligent in your learning. X will say, "Grasshopper, I have shown you the way to greatness, now go...you can now be the master of your own destiny".

By the way, where are we having lunch in Harris county on Tuesday October 2nd??

Oh, where is North Zulch?? I know Richmond, Plano, and most suburbs, but North Zulch?? Not around San Antonio.

There are a few companies who do the same type of work here in SA. They do it for the tax sale and the mortgage sales. Here each sale is every month on the first Tuesday. The info is not bad, but I would not rely 100% on it. I dont subscribe because I have someone who helps with research and when it is slow, she also cleans the house, and picks up my dry cleaning, etc. When the time comes to close, I do a title search or title policy anyway.

I personally like to have the info before anyone else does. The sales of the info get out to everybody at the same time. It is kinda like reading something in the Wall Street Journal. By the time it hits the newsstands, everybody knows. I want to know before. That is why I do my own research or have someone do it for me personally.
