mistakes and mishaps

Hello all,

I thought I'd drop in and see if anyone would like to share a rehab mishap story or two!
My story takes place in my own home and began when I thought it would be simple enough to paint my girls room.
Mistake # 1
Starting a project at 10pm on the 2nd day of what looks to be a looong spring break! ( This may seem obvious to some but hey, with four kids you'd BETTER wait till they're asleep.)

#2 Not making my husband do it.

#3 Not clearing out the room. Don't think you can paint an 11x13 room with two beds, two dressers, a highboy, and a 6-foot catipillar squeezed into the middle of it. It ain't happenin.

#4 Buying $65 of paint and trying to get by with with $2.00 rollers (tray included). This is an exercise in frustration. At least buy the decent stuff!

#5 Not making my husband do it.

#6 Unless you want to end up with a yellow, green and pink room, don't ask your junior business partners their opinion OR include them in the buying process.

#7 Have I mentioned my husband?

#8 Stepping on the plastic-covered bed (well part of it was covered), which is attatched to the plastic-covered dresser, which holds your open gallon of paint. Thank God for washable latex paint. That one had me frozen on the bed up to my ankle in paint.

Now, let's chalk this up to a learning experience and review the positives.

Good thing #1 I'm not Martha Stewart

#2 My husband was out of town and my children were asleep. No one can testify against me at the family lunch.

#3 My daughter needed a new pillow.

#4 It was time to rotate the mattress.

#5 I got 50% of the job done. Oh! 54% if you count the lid of the washing machine, the handle on the front door and the side of the trash can!!

And good thing # 6 There's even some left for my husband. Generous of me, isn't it!!

I hope we have all learned something today.

I for one have decided that rehabbing houses at this time in my life is probably not a wise move. Then again, I have always wanted to learn how to lay tile.....naahhh.
