Putting Signs On The Streets

GeXus profile photo

Does anyone know the laws for putting up signs on public streets? Are their any or can you just put them wherever...

Also,
What size would you recommend using? 18x18, 18x24 or 24x24?

This is going to be used for a "We buy homes" type of sign.

Thanks!

Check locally with your county because you could get fined. I put up 80 12x18 and they have been up for 1 month and I get some calls. Only 1 has been removed. I try to put them on a fairly busy intersection, but there are always 4 other signs similar. The next batch I put up will be 18x24. I have a friend that says if he's not getting a call from the county a least once a week he has them in the wrong places.

yes, in most counties they are illegal. you might want to call the zoning office instead of going down there yourself, hint hint. in my area we mostly put signs on state owned roads. i.e. highway exit ramps, main roads. because the state only picks them up and tosses em. but the city just kills us. there is always going to be some citizen that complains or the city zoning office calling so get used to it if you plan on marketing this way. another hint is to get a prepaid cellphone in a different name and address so the city cant track you down. there will also be jelous realtors and investors who might toss your signs or be the ones complaining to the city. hope this helps. the amount of deals we get off bandit signs far outweighs the amount of fines.

No whisle, no foul. Except when the whistle comes in the form of a fine. Definitely check with the local offices. If you see a bunch of signs up already, you at least won't get in any more trouble than your competition!!!
