I couldn't find info on the web. Does anyone know if bandit signs are legal in California, Los Angeles county to be more specific.
Thanks a lot.

    Red_October,

    Glad to meet you.

I am of the opinion nothing is legal in California, they have laws about laws.

Check with the City where you want to place your signs, they will probably hand you off to someone in Code Enforcement better know as the Bandit Sign Police.

Thanks a lot John, just recently purchased your "Sub To" course. Loving it. Although, I think it's tough to do a sub to here in So California, where appreciation just grows overnight. Any suggestions on what would you do in such hot market?

    Thank you,

    Alexander.

Now I know what a bandit sign. I have seen them in CA, and I have never heard any reason they're illegal.

    Do your own DD.

    Red_October,

The last student who told me that made $80K on their first deal in California in a hot area.

There are always those who need out fast for one reason or another, they are out there.

Most large markets are hot right now, yet there are still deals, the difference is when you make a deal the dollars are much larger.

You know the drill when you need me, so do not hestitate to use it.

Bandit signs are, by definition, illegal and violation of city ordinances... probably in every city over 25,000 in the country.

So I'd advise not using them...unless you want to make a lot of money with probably the most effective & cheapest advertising available.

Even if you were tagged and fined by the city, chances are it wouldn't be for some days after sign goes up, so it'd probably be worth the minor expense of the fines.

Do you know why they are illegal?

  • jeff120021st June, 2004

Probably because they haven't figgured out a way to license them. Signs on your local Walmart are regulated, and so are billboards etc. They are required to be inspected to make sure they meet code. They are regulated as to size, location etc. And the municipality collects a fee prior to issuing the permit. If they could figgure out how to handle this administratively and collect their fees, It wouldn't be a crime as long as you paid the piper.

Bandit signs are signs sold on sites like "onedollarsigns.com" They are legal in some places and illegal in others. Many states have laws against them but they are rarely enforced. Usually its the Neighborhood associations that call buisiness owners who use them to complain. In Houston I get calls all the time from them. I have not gotten a notice from the city yet, and I've been in biz for 2 yrs! You can find alot more info about them on the site I mentioned, which is also very cheap too wink

  • The city workers will usually pull them down. I haven't seen anyone fined. A certain city did call me though and asked that I not place them there any more. I've had some last a day and some last a month.
