High School Students
I am a landlord and a high school teacher. Several of my fellow teachers regularly have high school students help them during the summer on their properties.
This being the law and legal forum, I was wondering if anyone has any input on the possible pitfalls of this arrangement.
If they are related to me in a close family arrangement, I employ them and work the hell out of them. So much that I experienced a general strike in the family and have now been demoted to the rank of part time consultant.
The usual problems of insurance. Each state has also some additional requirements as to the employment of minors. Usualy a reduction of work time and a rest facility complete with coke machine, lollypop dispensers etc.
We use a contractual agreement in which the student signs on as an intern. For limited money, excessive exposure and a real life lesson in bottom feeding of the masses as practiced in present day capitalist structures. Most go away never to return. A few stricken by the example of business life styles, turn to the church. But a few return to school, restructure their major courses of study, add a few psy courses and a lot more history, creating the proper mell of the two disciplines. They return and proceed on a path of upward glory.
That stuff about a gentlemen C is applicable only to politics and the activity is confined to a few selected Universities along the Eastern Seaboard who are overgrown with Ivy and some active molds. Amen.
