Employee Contract To Protect Business From Fraud And Embezzlement

I have an employee who has no access to my business bank account. But now I am leaving the country for 6 weeks and need to allow her to pay the bills. I might also give her POA on my properties so that she can list them, sign Warranty deeds, etc. I will have email access, but there will be no Fed Ex, UPS, etc.

So if you add someone to your bank account, what is it that constitues fraud because it was a non-business expense versus they can write a check for anything that they want? What contract is it that would allow me to overturn a deed or prosecute for fraud/embezzlement if there was a misappropriation of funds?

can you get a bond in place to protect you.

What about how broad the POA is.

May you need to start a new account that just has 6 wks. of $$ in it.

Start another checking account like bargain said. That sounds like the best, dont seem like you trust this person. And if she is anything like me, i wouldnt want to touch your account if you were asking me questions like that...bonds?embezzlements? get real

Brenda, I think you are ON TARGET with your concerns.

I have owned and operated mullti-location retail businesses for over 30 years now, with up to 33 employees handling my money and my merchandise.

Only with a realistic view of human nature have we been able to survive and actually thrive. During this time we have had over 30 employees terminated for various forms of misappropriation of company assets. In fact, some ethnic communities seem to have an inbred bias against "the man," whether it is the Government or the business owner, which makes you an easy, socially acceptable target of their theft.

Almost anyone, at any time, may feel YOUR MONEY is what they need to solve their problems. You are wise to be concerned.

    "get real" ????

Obviously you’ve never had "trusted" employees steal from you.

The wise king has given sound advice.
