Anyone have any idea or tips on getting a planning office to change the zoning on a property to commercial?

Take your councilman out to lunch. Seriously. Especially in our area. Tell them your idea how it will help the community and make him/her look better to the community and/or make them money. Once you have them backing your move it should go through without a hitch. It is also a good contact to have for future deals.

I'd just advise against your planning on getting a rezone...at least, don't plan a commercial acquisition based on this, as it's a very iffy proposition, and not always doable.

Talk to BALD (bldg & land dept)before you make any commitments, and see what their thinking is about the zoning...you may decide it's way out of range of being possible, or it's going to be lots of expense that you don't want to commit for.

    Thanks for the advice guys/gals,
talked to the Planning office and they are dead set on leaving it as is...This was denied a few years ago and is almost guaranteed to be denied again.

    Thx
