Right Of Redemption In Ohio For Sheriff Sale Foreclosures

house2house profile photo

Hi,
I have looked up Ohio's Laws on the internet.

Is the Right of Redemption, a State law, or County law?

I have found 2 different answers.

1st one read: 120 days

2nd one read: The property may be redeemed only before court confirmation. After that there is no redemption.

If anyone knows Ohio's Right of Redemption period for a Foreclosure at a Sheriff Sale, I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks

Foreclosure laws, customs and practices can differ from State to State, County to County, and even from Lender to Lender. Each of the 88 counties in Ohio might have it's own specific procedures...

So, it's best to contact the Clerk of the Court in the appropriate jurisdiction. They'll give you the definitive response.

In Franklin County there is right of redemption until the confirmation of sale is filed. The average time for confirmation is 30-60 days from the date of the auction. Not sure if all counties are the same. Hope this helps. You may be able to find more info on the website of the county that you are in.
