Unfortunately this is a game of patience unless you have documents that state the facts that you have outlined.

Ask your Insurance company for proof of payment of the invoice as it is still showing outstanding (even if it really isn't).

Send the proof of payment from the insurance company with a letter certified to the CRA disputing the validity of the information. Try sending that to the collection agency and asking them to remove the mark from your credit at the same time.

It basically boils down to you were liable for this bill, you pay an insurance company to take care of these for you, but they (your agent of payment) failed, so the liability is back on you.

The best thing you can do going forward and if you can afford to do this is to pay the invoice and submit it to your insurance for payment. You are going to pay for it one way or another whether they reimburse you or not.

Just keep a copy of the letter from the insurance company. If this is your only blemish and it is marked paid you don't have too much to worry about.

hey i appreciate your response .i thought i would wait a few more days to check for responses www.again.i might have misled part of my situation to this site's readers and im sorry for that. however, this bill has been paid .on my credit report,it shows as paid .i am a member of a reputable insurance provider---they say they paid the bill BUT after the hospital straightened out a DOCUMENTED claim mistake .the hospital visit was slightly over 2 yrs ago and this bill was satisfied only recently.however,it shows as paid to a COLLECTION AGENCY and paid outside of satisfactory agreement. this is the only credit blemish i www.have.i should be able to prove legitimacy ....BUT in the meantime im getting little cooperation from the collection agency ,hospital ,and insurance company......basically the collection nazi's wont budge because they say that i should have paid the hospital and got my $ back from the insurance company

    Amen,

Keep copies of everything. Send copies in with a dispute letter to each bureau.

Also I would keep going up the chain of command at the Collection Agency as it sounds you have only talked to the little guy who in most cases likes making you miserable. Eventually they will get sick of hearing you when your wasting the big dogs time.

Good luck and keep us posted,

You will need to finalize this with the other two bureaus. It would be best to respond with a written, certified letter to get it corrected. Send a letter with your back-up and you should be fine.

If you are working by phone there is no reason for a recorder, just state that if they can't send a letter to you clearing the matter up, that you may have to consider seeking damages in a court of law under the FCRA. They will respond, even though most play it off as no big deal. (by the way, as long as one party is aware that the conversation is being recorded, you don't need to make the other party aware, at least in my state, but it is always a good idea.)
