call a bank and ask what the currency conversion is today in canadian dollars. find price per sq ft in the area and convert.

Am I understanding your question correctly?

    Just an idea.

WHel, actually, I was just asking if anyone knew what the average price per square foot was in Canada. And as for the conversion, if an american were to tell me for example, " whel, here in NJ it is $150" then I would just prefer him to mention that that was in US dollars and not Canadian.

I can convert myself, but I would rather have someone from Canada or someone in the US who knows how much it costs here tell me. Its a pain to find these builders here to give you any info.

Price per square foot varies dramatically, in different areas here in the US. I assume there is at least some sort of varience in different canadian areas. I think you really need to know more about the specific location.

Your price per square foot will depend on the type and quality of materials that you use in construction. Obviously a frame house with minimal amenities is going to be less expensive, per square foot, than an all brick house with marble flooring throughout. Hard to answer your question without seeing your plans and knowing where you intend to build.

Ditto...here is Dallas they build tract housing routinely for $100 psf, incl. lot and nominal landscaping. From there the pricing soars to multiples of $400+ psf...lots of specifics are necessary to make a comparison. Some insurance carriers (A-rated) recently have required replacement cost coverage in the amount $80 psf on my rent houses...things are pretty heated at the moment.
