What's In A Name?

southernbg profile photo

Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to come up with a name for my LLC for the longest.... But can not seem to come up with a good one.

So here is my question to you. Is it better to have a name that sounds professional and clear or something that has meaning to me, that my sound silly to others.

There are so many things that I am passionate about besides REI that I would like to name my LLC after but I just do not know if they will make it in the REI world...

I would love some advice here....

Thanks in Advance!

I think I would like to hear some of your ideas first.
The name of your LLC is hardly of any consequence to anyone but you......and the people with whom you do business, of course. Hmmm...that may be your answer.

That does answer my question to an extent....I do not want to be over looked because of my name...

Anyway, here are a few...do not laugh...( I love children....I am in childcare now and animals)

    1. Baby Properties
    2. Pitbull Properties Inc
    3. Baby Land Properties
    4. Panthers Properties Inc

Anyway those are what I am chewing on now...

I've always named my companies after cars, horses, or my daughter.

As long as you have something descriptive that lets someone looking for successful REI folks know that REI IS your business, I think it's fine. Panther Properties is my favorite thus far - but I like alliteration.

Pick what name pleases you. The only suggestion I would make would be to leave off "Enterprises" at the end of the name.

I like Panther Properties or some use of the pitbull name - sounds agressive or what about Pitbull Baby or BB Pitbull Props. I support an interesting name that means something to you personally. Heard of a guy who named his real estate company "TIC", (Trash is Cash), and I loved that one.

Knew a heavy hitter in commercial RE a few years back and he named his yacht after his daughters, a little piece of each of their names, (Leslie, Tracie, Laura), boat was "Lestralaur", and that was a great name.

    Have fun,
    Noel

As a former computer nerd I started my name search to make sure I could get a nice sounding domain (myname.com). Its the worst when you are trying to tell someone on the phone how to spell your email address or say it when it is very long. My old company's website was www.oneononecomputing.com...try to figure out how to explain that one over the phone!

    nice:

I was thinking: Innovative Real Estate Solutions... or IRS for short, it would be easy for people to remember.

    our motto would be

"at this IRS we don’t screw you" (joke)

    LOL!

When I started my company as a real estate broker, I also was hunting for a name that would evoke the same image as the name General Motors or IBM. It never dawned on me that these companies spend millions of dollars in advertising year after year for years and years.. It takes time to have name recognition unless there's adverse publicity involved..

I was looking for that name. My brother-in-law suggested that I call my self, "Owner Realty" . I asked him why that name? He said that I could point to all the signs in the front yards, which say, "For Sale By Owner". I never forgave him for that pun.

I would not use a name which conjures up visions of attack, aggression,or predatory act. Such as pit-bull, tiger, pirana, etc. In a distress situation, I would not want to deal with Sharkey's, Pirana Loans. Tiger/Panther/Cobra. www.etc.etc.

I used to work at a financial information company that covered banks among other things and I remember and Ugly Duckling Bancorp. and as I remember they were relatively successful. As long as your nit getting offensive I wouldn't let it concern you too much. David Letterman of Late Night produces the show his company is Worldwide Pants.

Out of all the names you are chewing on; Panther properties is best.
The others conjure up connotations of an organization on the rise as opposed to an organization that has arrived.
In business perception is everything; especially in a business like R.E. whereby you will be needing OPM.
