Quit Claim On Tax Deed Property

linny profile photo

I have a property that was QC to me and that I just found out is on a list of property to be sold for taxes. The sale is in 2 months. I was wondering if I could just pay the taxes and get the property redeemed?
I was trying to call the couty collector for the property but they kwwp bouncing me around.
Thanks

If you pay the taxes then this will be a "redeemed" property and not be auctioned.

    Greetings Linny,

I don’t do tax liens, but typically at a tax lien sale people are not buying the property, but the lien itself. However, the lien must be paid off within the redemption period (different in every state) or the person who bought the lien can end up with the property.

So, if there’s a tax lien on your property, "yes" you should be able to just pay it off (plus penalties and interest) and have the lien removed.

If someone’s already bought the tax lien, and the redemption period is almost up. Then get it paid off fast. And don’t give up at the tax collector’s office. Someone there should be able to tell you where you need to go to pay back taxes and get the lien cleared.

    Good luck!

    HTH
