Just For Newbies Article?

InActive_Account profile photo

I've been thinking for several weeks about writing an article Just for Newbies. It seems like a lot of questions that get asked about REI from newbies are very similar and that we all ask the same questions over and over, and you all are gracious enough to give the same answers to everyone over and over.

I looked in the article section for articles targeted just to the common questions newbies ask like, How do I find a mentor or how do I get hard money, etc. but have not found anything that covers just a list of the common questions newbies ask. Does anyone know of a former article like this that has already been written, or should I go ahead and submit mine?

Thanks,

Robert

    robertt,

Not trying to stop you from writing an article as they are an important part of this web site.

However, I can tell you this all those questions that have been asked by new people have been asked and answered thousands of times just about everwhere.

Part of the mystic of a discussion board is the new person making that first post "What is P.I.T.I.?" with great pride in the fact that they are finally taking the plunge into our wonderful world of creative real estate investing.

Now, how would it look if we all just answered see this url http//:etc. Pretty soon everyone would only post url's to answer questions.

It's more fun to answer the question like it is the first time it has been asked, and get a reply "thanks for all your help".

    John,

That was part of my point I guess. It just seems like the same questions get asked almost evey week and sometimes it seems like sometimes those questions get ignored. I know I try to look for posts that have zero responses in this forum just so the person doesn't feel ignored.

Nonetheless, I also understand the satisfaction of helping someone understand something. Even if it's something we answered last week for another newbie.

    Thanks for your candor.

    Robert,

By the way the next new person who asks "what is P.I.T.I." I am going to throw in jail. LOL

    Robert,

A variation on your idea might be to take one aspect and do an article just on that -- mentoring, networking, basics of research -- experiences relating to one subject that you'd like to share.

    Nancy,

Thanks for the idea to break it out.

Principal, Interest, Taxes, Insurance (PITI) - monthly payments required by an amortizing loan that includes escrow deposits for taxes and insurance in addition to the principal and interest

    Thexious,

Yes, I was just given John a hard time because he said if anyone asked him what PITI was, he was going to ban them. So I intentionally mispelled it.
