Info Tubes And Fsbo Signs
i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem. i bought my first investment property that i am offering a lease option on and so i have signs in the yard. well i have had two info tubes stolen, (besides the usual emptying of the tube the same day i fill it), three fsbo signs stolen, and a "lease option" sign that i made myself and attached to the fsbo sign stolen.
its just really frustrating whether its real estate agents or other investors, but why do people have to be so disrespectful and cheap as to steal signs and info tubes. i thought about putting up a hidden camera to just watch for fun to see what kind of person does this, just wanted some feedback from you guys. thanks.
You could always chain a really big guard dog near the signs. I wish you would put up a hidden camera. It would be interesting to see what's going on. Is it possible that it's local kids? Can you put a sign inside the house in a window? Good Luck!
well i thought it could be kids until the lease option sign was cleanly cut off from the fsbo sign. i just dont know how many kids are in the market for one of those. im just waiting to see it on someone elses sign so i can stop and ask them where they got that great idea for a sign and then throw a stick at them when they say they made it. the guard dog sounds interesting too. haha.
Is the sign clearly in your yard? If it is not in your yard then it could be anybody. My guess would be that a neighbor is taking them because they are unattrative. Many people just hate signe. Have you noticed any other signs that stay up in the area? If you do notice other competeing signs, then it might be the owner of the other house for sale.

well the little signs that i put out at the main road, those are always gone but those are on public property so i didnt think they would last long. but the actual big one in the yard has always stayed, just the info tubes and the lease option sign keep dissappearing there. who knows, thanks for your replies. does it happen to anyone else or just me?
Please, Please put the video camera up! Would love to see a clip of that. I would post it on our Association website!

Stolen signs are very common.
To combat this:
1) Put a sign in the window and the yard.
2) Put a copy of your brochure in the window.
3) Walk to the three house on each side. Give them a flyer and tell you pay a referral fee for tenants. As you leave, mention:
"Hey, have you seen anyone steal the sign from my yard?"
"Gosh no."
"Oh okay...if you do please let me know. I called the police and they told me it was a felony, so I really want to catch them." (It isn't a felony, but what do they know"
