Getting Started

I`m still new to the REI business and I do have a rental property, actually it was the home that I use to live in. I need some serious input, I find that it is not that easy getting a mentor or someone that can work with me. Some that I have network with for some reason donot stay in contact with me even if I make calls or drop them an email them. Maybe I should just make an effort and step out their on my own and read as much information as I can....Any Input?

You should definitely read as much as you can. Even with a mentor, personal reading and education is a must.

Also don't forget that this site is an invaluable source of information and help. There are many people on this site that can answer your questions.

I would suggest reading as much as you can and looking for deals yourself. If you run into any problems or have any questions I am sure there are people on this site that can help.

having a "m" is good but you said it right. get out there and learn all you can by yourself. no one will take interest in your future in rei more than you....kenmax

From my experience having a mentor is becoming more and more obsolete unless you have a family member, friend, or pay someone to do so... There aren't really people who will help you along until you get your first deal and not get paid until that first deal is complete.

That being said - you can take many steps to getting mentored yourself... This is what I mean...

Start by wholesaling/bird dogging, when you come up with a good deal and you "flip" it to someone else, ask them if you can be around when the rehab is going on, estimates take place and so on and so forth. Do this a couple times and you will have your mentoring done for you... WIN/WIN - what its all about!

    Good Luck!
