IOWA Tax Lien Forclosure Procedure

Taxivestor profile photo

Does anyone have experience in foreclosing on Iowa tax liens?. I know the 1year, 9 month time period prior to starting an action exists.

Was first contact made directly with the property owner? Or, is it better to just notify the owner (and mortage holder, if any) by mail that taxes are past due and foreclosure is possible/probable?

Was an attorney involved?

Any experiences, anecdotes, cautions, information , etc. will be appreciated.

I am just reading some old posts and came across yours. I will be in Marianna (Jackson county seat) Thursday and can check for you. Are you looking for tax certificates in this area only or for investments in this area.
