Let's get one thing straight. I do not appreciate anyone attacking my creditability.

2nd of all funny person, I do not nor have I ever worked for Mr. Whitney.

3rd of all I help folks here at TCI just to be able to give back as many other investors due!

You can knock Mr. Whitney all you want, but son his deals and bank account is something you can only dream about.

TCI is not a place to knock but to help.

If you want help and guidance with REI, TCI will help.

I you are here to pick a fight, son you are barking up the wrong tree with me.

    DWE,

I walked out, I guess you could call it a free seminar. This was the first Guru assembly I ever attended. Their were enough lies in the speakers 'presentation' that I felt sorry for the ones that put their faith and hopes in this kind of real estate dribble.

    1. If you can tell me if you tried the open a passbook savings account, then borrrow from the 5 different banks you have the accounts with, without a credit check by the way, then I would be impressed. Russ, says you can.

    2. If you can get a 'no doc' loan without a credit check then I would be twice as impressed. Russ, also says you can.

    3. Nothing was mentioned about closing costs, interest, or points in the deals he did, just pure profit. What a man.

    4. I could go on but I think you get the point.

I was there with my $Cash$ hat on (green baseball cap with $Cash$ in gold embroidered across the front), showed one of his disciples my credential book with the 500+ properties from verifiable sources that I have bought and sold.

This is just my opinion of what I saw and heard, I sincerely hope what you learned you can put to good use in real estate investing.

I have obtained and closed a 'no doc' loan for the full price of a house. There was no credit check .

      • JohnLocke17th July, 2003 Reply

I would like to know who the lender was. I would like to see if they are still in business.

Hello there I am a guy who wants knowledge in the real estate buisness in Portland Oregon who happend to attend one of Russ Whitneys programs yesterday and although I felt the sly moves put on I seriously just wanted information and knowledge on getting started with Real Estate because my knowledge is very small.

I want to thank you people in some of your oppinions and I am going to cancel the whiney program and just get into some books in the library or buy some any suggestions?.

I am looking to be very smart with my money with investments and appreciate every response thanks.

        yeah, sure it is (hehehe)

Do you work for russ or have you ever in your past?

  • JohnMichael22nd November, 2002

    Hi dwe,

Yes I have went through the course plus, I spent just under 30k. I did them all.

I did gain some knowledge. I would not suggest this for you unless you have the extra cash.

For me it was just a deduction. Most of what is tought is fluff and a lot of it and they spend more time in selling then teaching.

I have done the pass book deal my self, just to see how it works. It does work "kind of".

Most banks will loan up to 80% of the pass book amount, most do check credit, and it will cost you interest. You do not get a 100% of your money as they imply.

It takes time to build a bank relationship.

As for a no doc loan, it to can be done. I have built a relationship with my banker over 10 years and have ample reserves with them. I can go to my banker and get up to 350k based upon my signture & how I do business (honest). This has taken 10 yrs to get this kind of relationship and a lot of deals.

I am new to TCI and I claim to be new to REI because I want to stay a babe in mind to REI because you learn this way. When you think you know it all you will loose your shirt.

I would take what info you have gotten from Russ Whitney Education and run with it with caution, study your market area, network with Realtors, Bankers, just about all who have anything to do with real estate!!!

Keep postive, get books at your pub lib on re, study and study and study.

Learn how to research property at your court house, talk to other investors - should I say let them talk you will learn - When you have built up a nest egg of re deals then spend more on education.

I have went through Russ & Carlton's programs from top to bottom, just because I wanted to! Both teach a lot of fluff. I had a lot of fun at both. Only do this if you have the extra funds.

I also teach REI to about 800 students a year. You can do one thing that will help you the most find a mentor to guide you!

Keep in mind that most folks just getting in the game are look for a get rich over night plan, their last hope REI is not this, it takes time.

    Keep in touch

Is this for one course?? Or mulitple courses??

      • JohnMichael25th November, 2002 Reply

Mulitple courses. Every course though is a sell, sell, sell for the next course.

Some education, but mostly FLUFF and a lot of it.

Has worked for some, but most fail do to lack of information.

Thanks for asking and have a great day investing

I personally would not recommend Russ Whitney's course if you are a beginner. I went through his three day course and that's what got me started in the business. But, I needed someone to hold my hand and someone who knew the market where I lived and worked everyday and they were not the best source for me. Since then, I've been feeling my way through the dark and have come across these boards and people on these boards who have helped me, way more than all the money I spent with Russ Whitney and his group! Read some books, buy some inexpensive courses off this site, search other sites and ask alot of questions. You'll get alot more and save alot at the same time! I found that Russ Whitney's group is in Florida and maybe, they are doing deals there, but the BBB didn't give them a high rating and, his seminar/books give you alot of generalities and not enough of "how to's" which I needed as a beginner. They seemed to be more interested in selling me boot camps than actually helping me close a deal!

I live in Central Florida. I attended the russ whitney free "seminar" and found it full of nothing but sales pitches and people trying to sell me a "dream" I left very disappointed from that seminar.

I proceeded to teach myself whatever I could so I read every book about real estate in my local library, Then proceeded to the county court house to learn more. There I met some true auction investors who directed me to the following:

    1. A foreclosure class with a price tag of ONLY $100.00!!! This class is about everything you need to do to become a succesfull auction shark. A class with no fluff!!

The people who run the class also have a website (with a great price also) that list ALL lis penden, calendar of sales, information on each and every case coming up for auction and those with a judge's NOTICE OF SALE including judgement amounts, how much equity is left on the properties etc. It looks like a mini title search.

The point is, we need good people to direct us in the right direction, and what better place than the court house auctions where you will meet experienced investors that can direct you to what you are looking for and who knows, you might make a few alliances like I have.

(If the investors see that you are not there to step on their toes you will find tons of info from them)

The website I was talking about and classes can be found at IRSFL.COM (Gail cover like 9 different counties)

Hope this helps newbies like myself in central florida.

I have my own $$$ to work with and am in need of some partners / investors in central florida to go after more lucrative deals than what i can afford right now so we could both split profits and grow together.

    Sincerely

Actually, there were two lenders (1st and 2nd) and they are both natioanl concerns.

      • JohnLocke18th July, 2003 Reply

Then since they are both National you should have no problem saying who they are. I would like to know and I am sure others would also.

yeah, me two. Who are the lenders??

    • Dreamin3rd August, 2003 Reply

The only problem I find with Russ and other Guru's is none of the tell you the details of HOW TO in your state. much of what they tell you does work in other states especially FL, TX has really different lending laws, we have a true Homestead that even when you buy a tax lein you do not neccessary eliminate the mortgage debts etc... You have to fly blind and hope you do your due diligence the right way. Oh and best of all we are a NON-disclosure state.....and one RE broker dont post the Sale price on their sold MLS listings even though it is required by law, go figure.

No one to help you through those hurdles and pitfalls here in TX :( You have to be smart and inventive. And RE companies, if its not on the form we don't want to understand it and I'm not taking that to the seller is what you get....on MLS's Anyone with words of wisdom on how to overcome these hurdles and pitfalls please shed light to me, still weeding my way slow but successfully so far.......visit my profile to do so.............. Good investing to all!

I live in Cape coral where Russ operates and I know 2 people that are former employees and one that still works for him. He apparently treats his employess very well and pays pretty well too. The one guy that I know that used to work there had a job where is scoured the net all day and posted positive stuff about Russ to sort of fan the flames. Keep in mind I am not accusing anyone here of that. However, if you look at his stuff it is all hardsell and 90% fluff. As for his bank account I am not sure but his property porfolio is nothing to laugh at. Another problem he is haveing is everyone he *****ociates himself with is being indicited for one reason or another, it's almost a daily occurence in the paper here. I am very new to this site but in general I get a feeling that everyone here in pretty genuine and here to help not make a buck which it seems a lot of the self proclaimed gurus are.

        just my opinion.

  • aopvending2nd August, 2003

ok well her is my opinion on mr whitney i think mr whitney is a good showmen heck you have to be you the fact that part of what he lets out is garbage anyways he has somethings you can learn but so do two year olds but ill tell you this a man that hides behind a company isnt much of some one i would put alot of stock into half of his child hood is a lie he is a x con for robbing a store at the age of 18 and spent 2 years in jail till he got parolled and went to go work at the tobogan place so eplaine this if he is a good standing guy ok ill buy it he has been out of jail for a long time butheres what i dont get dont most states say you cant get a real estate license if you have commited a felony looks like sommon might have lied on that application i dont know russ you have any input

    • debtmedic13th January, 2004 Reply

The comment Re: Real Estate licensure if your a felon is not entirely true. The type of felony is weighed and granted licenses are done on a case by case basis in this scenario.

I live in Wisconsin and have been to alot of gurus' seminars, bootcamps, read many books and courses, and most of all, bought a few houses along the way (some right, some wrong). I did attend Russ's preliminary real estate seminar, stock bootcamp, and convention in Orlando. Although I did learn a few new tricks I would have to reaffirm what many have said here...that if you are just starting out, start out with less expensive things and then spend money on something like Russ only when you are just dying to blow some of that cash from one of the awesome 30 or 50 thousand dollar deals you just did. A more modest start may be one of the gurus' courses such as Carleton Sheets (for basic education), then graduate to others, such as Robert Allen, and Wade Cook, or (my favorite) Ron LeGrand. If you want preforeclosure education, NOTHING beats Jeff Kaller's Mr. Preforeclosure course. That course ALONE made it possible for me to leave my job. But it does require some basic training first and preferably Ron LeGrand training. But train all you want folks, if you do not apply what you learn because your too chicken, afraid of every possible thing that might happen which really wouldn't but now since your worried about it will, or your afraid of what other people might think, or that some realtor or seller may think your offer is too low or too outrageous in terms (I once helped negotiate $101,000 in CREDIT FROM A SELLER on a $125,000 purchase price just because I asked for it!), or have to have all the stars aligned just right before you do your first deal (attorneys kill more deals for first time investors or sellers than anything else I know-but hey, at least we didn't do the deal, legally right? Most attorneys give their opinions without first researching the truth, or finding out the right way to do something instead of just saying it can't be done). Anyways just DO IT! Go get some basic education and do something you feel comfortable with...better yet step out of that comfort zone, do your due diligence and then MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN! Anyways that's enough of my pep talk for now. JUST DO IT! And don't forget to make a PROFIT while you're doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
