Tracking Down Owner..?

suntzu18 profile photo

Hey guys I drive by a big old house on my way to work everyday and it never looks like anyone is there. Will be great commercial location in the future. No lights onever, no car, nothing. Yard no really overgrown, but not really kept up either. I looked at the tax records and the bills are current with the last known address of the homeowner actually going to the property itself. What is the most likely case here? I litlle old lady that never ever leaves the house? Would the best plan of action be to send a letter acquiring about purchasing the house?

Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to contact the neighbor? they might have an answer as to the whereabout of the owner. Or alternatively, drop a mail and tell the owner of your intention. Include your phone #.

    Good luck.

Have you knocked on the door? Left a card there? One guy I know posts his "for sale by owner" sign in the yard and never fails to hear from the owner. Hasn't been sued yet, but that one is not for me.

What I have done is talk to all the neighbors, leaving my card with a promised $20 for complete reliable address and phone # of owner. Sometimes I get lucky and someone gets paid. I have stopped at neighborhood churches and stores. People have always been willing to talk with me.

If tax bill is going there and is being paid, someone must be picking up the mail. Drop them a hand written note inquiring about the house.

Take action, man. Driving by, or "windshielding" as we called in the world of salesmanship, never bought or sold anything. Take action, my man.

    Good luck

Like has been stated, knock on the door!

    Send a letter!

    Talk to a neighbor!

In addition, this one has been the best for me in getting a response both good and negative. This is not a joke!

Place a FSBO sign in the yard with your number - cell is the best - and I get a few leads for property buyers.
