Newbee Looking For Advice On Courses

Blaine4434 profile photo

I have read many of these threads and I am curious if one course is better than the other? I have heard people mention Ron LeGrand, David Lindahl, John "Cash" Locke and I have seen many more on the internet. How do you know if they are for real or just tying to "up-sell" you to buy more of thier literature or boot camp's? I am looking to educate myself with real information and not sales pitches.

Thanks......

Awhile back I too was curious about this subject. I joined my local Real Estate Investment Club. I asked other members about their experiences with these courses. I got a range of responses. Some spent $5 - 10,000 + on boot camps and said it was a great experience. They are now doing deals. Others were cautious about the upsell aspects, it does happen and the large expense. A benefit of being a member of the local REIC is that speakers with these systems and boot camps speak at these groups. I have then attended their follow up sessions for a full day ( free or nominal charge ) to learn a bit more and could judge for myself. A few folks bought their products on a couple of occasions. They were in the $800 - 1500 range.

Spend a few hundred bucks on REI books from Amazon and REI websites first. There's endless knowledge on the TCI website. There are posts on TCI concerning all of the individuals you are interested in. Go to TCI Forums, enter the name in the Search Box (upper right corner).

It does gets to the point where you may decide, as I did there is a need after an initial learning curve to learn from an accomplished investor / teacher who provides bootcamps and / or systems. I decided to go to a local bootcamp in my area (Charlotte) that was done by a local person there. It was three days for $1500. It was money well spent and then some. It was full of the hands on information that I needed.(www.larrygoins.com) I came to the conclusion that spending $1500 for a 2 - 3 day bootcamp was a good investment.

The Ron Legrand and David Lindahl's materials as well as others can be purchased on EBay at a significant discount.

In your area Atlanta, there is a wealth of hands on local knowledge and many real estate investment clubs. Also check into a local investor / teacher John Adams, www.money99.com that may fit the bill for you. Check all around his website. It's full of good information. He gives many seminars at Emory University.

I also like Vena Jones-Cox (or is it Cox-Jones). Her material is very informative, plus she is an excellent presenter. Her material is organized, as is her presentation, and it is enjoyable. Her material is very down to earth.
