New York City Newbie; Need Advice What Areas To Start...

Ok, so I've been trying to get into this real estate game since January when I ordered a simple lease-option e-book and saw my passion for Real Estate rejuvinated.

Unfortunately, my corporate job has held me down a bit. But mostly, it's me. If I truly want this, I know I can make it happen, and I can find the time somehow to invest into this venture. I haven't stepped up to the plate, but I'm going to change that now.

To be honest, my biggest concern is that I live in New York and I am intimidated by the market here because it's soooo expensive. That said, I have my direct marketing strategy in place. I would simply like some advice on whether I should try starting out in Long Island perhaps, or if I should ease into things by going upstate or even neighboring Pennsylvania.

Next year, i wish to move with my girlfriend to North Carolina. But we can't do that until I start generating income from real estate. So, I simply have to put fears and paralysis aside and do this. Of course, I want to take the course that will put me closest with success.[ Edited by camilomachado on Date 05/17/2004 ]

Try Newark, NJ. It's a goldmine for wholesaling.

Thank you. I will start farming out lead from my data service for Newark, NJ. It's as good a place as any to get started.
