Estate Sales

I have come across some really good deals in the paper for estate sales. They move fairly quickly in my area. My question is how do you go about finding estate homes before they get advertised? Please advise.

Find out if there's a newspaper in your area published primarily for the legal profession where legal notices are posted concerning estates and other matters and get a subscription to it. (You can probably find this out by calling a couple of law firms.) This kind of newspaper contains a lot of valuable information, including names of individual attorneys you can contact and an indication of their clientele. If there isn't a newspaper like this in your area, ask the law firms in what publications they post their legal notices (and any advertising).

Thanks for your reply. Question, the legal notices that are advertised , state the administrator to the estate. What's the best way to approach? Isn't there a petition time before the estate is settled?

I don't know the estate laws or practices there, but my approach would be to just get a foot in the door with various attorneys, try to start a business relationship whether on that particular estate or others they are representing. Become a "familiar" name so that they will think of you as a possible solution to their clients' needs, and also may pass your name along to others in their offices. Suggest sending letters to them.
