Hi Everyone, i am just getting started trying to get everything ready to send out mailings. I contacted our city hall to find out about a listing of recent divorces in this area. I was told it was never done before and i have to write to seek permission for this. Has anyone ever done this and if so did you actually put in the letter about rei or what did you tell them you need it for. Thank you.

John

Click on the Freebies tab at the top of your screen and click on marketing. Download one of the letters and change the wording a little.

Hello and thank you. But i did look at those before i put out my first post. The problem is that this letter is going to the city hall, not the seller and i am wondering if city hall would frown on giving a list like that to realestate investors. Thanks again.

    Hi John,

Where are you located? Typically public records are available to anyone without permission.

Hey Barry, i am in philly, pa. When i called them and asked for a monthly list of divorces in philly, they said they never did that before so i had to request permission and then something would have to be done as far as a database. But i can't imagine no one ever getting a list like that in a city this large.

John, I did some quick research and it seems the Family Court Records, which divorce is part of is very difficult to get in your area. The law states:

"Family Court records, including, but not limited to Domestic Relations' matters, Juvenile records, Protection from Abuse records, Adoption records, and Divorce records, are impounded and are not subject to inspection except by a party to the action or counsel of record for the party whose records are to be inspected.

These records may not be disclosed, unless otherwise provided by statute, or removed or inspected except by order of Administrative Judge of Family Court.

In the event these records are required as evidence in a civil, criminal, administrative or disciplinary proceeding, a verified petition setting forth specific reasons why the record is needed must be filed with the Administrative Judge of Family Court Division or his judicial designee.

An appropriate Order must accompany the petition."

Perhaps there is a local Phili Investor who knows the ropes, and can offer some advice. Good luck.

    Hey Rejobber,
thank you. I looked on line for information and i think i spoke to at minimum 8 different people from city hall and not one of them told me anything about that. Well i went and sent the letter out today so now i will see what the response is from him. Thanks again for the help.

No problem John. Don't give up until you get what you need.
