The Forum Board Rules...what Do You All Think?

SolutionsKid profile photo

There are a lot of people on this site who have been posting for awhile and a lot who have just started and will continue to post. I would like everyone's thoughts and opinions.

Having seemed to have break every rule with the forums (me) wink it seems that we need to either change some things or talk about things. Since this is an open forum, I want to create an open arena and talk about what is like and not liked about the forums. For example, I have mentioned to people that the rules are hard to find and you have to click on one small word "FAQ" to get some answers. I believe we should have a more prominent position for the rules so that people can understand things better.

Second, I personally think that the rules should be better defined because to some degree they vague and really can cover ever grey area possible. For example, I have been accused of board hustling...which blew me away because I never purposely have tried to do anything wrong or thought I was. When I went back and reread the rules, I realized that certain people on this site thought I was hustling because I asked people to email me or private message me.

As I told Joel, I have never intentionally had someone email or PM me because I wanted them to pay money or offer "services". Emailing me is the easiest way for me to talk to someone and exchange documents. Just like everyone else here, even though I post tons of great ideas, I have documents and information that I don't plan on sharing with the rest of the REI world. And again, I don't charge for them, I just ask that people PM me or email me so I can get to know them and talk to them.

Yes, to some degree I am griping about myself because I am a very honest and simple person who likes to talk and help people out and when I get accused of doing something I would never imagine doing, it kinda hurts and makes me think that some people either have too much time on their hands or really don't get the point of this site.

So, in essence, I would like to hear other people's thoughts, as I'm sure Joel would, about what suggestions and changes could improve the quality and cohesivenss of the site without causing so many "issues".

Thanks for your time, look forward to hearing your thoughts.

generally if one is listing products on this site then he would be held to a higher level of accountability.

I hear you, but instead of getting around the subject just come out say it. I am not sure what you are talking about (I know me) but I mean if you read my post above and have read many of my posts then you know what I offer is only my advice. I don't peddle my products, my background is advertising and marketing and I know I slipped up a couple times trying to get info out there, but again, not sure what you are referring to. Just give me some more specifics so I know how to understand and approach things.

Did you order that options trading thing off the TV that I keep seeing or did you start trading on your own?
