Space Limit For Thread?

I added a comment to a 15 page thread in the development forum, and it appears to have bumped a previous comment. In fact, the whole thread gets a bit disjointed at the end; apparently some of the posts are missing.
Is there a space limit for a given thread? This is one of the best threads I have seen in the forums, and is certainly the most viewed; it is a shame if it died for lack of space.

I think there is.
Simply because the threads normally should be going on and on. Discussions normally take a turn somewhere, and that is where the topic should be locked and a new discussion takes place.
