General Question????
My wife and i bought our historic home in the houston/galveston area......... i keep my yard clean and even take time to keep the grass infront of my home which is city's property cleaned as a good sport..... My question is does the city have the right to tell me the cut the tree limps?? They wrote me a letter which states that i have to cut any limps which are 15' and lower.... Even though the tree is in their sidewalk way outside my property line... The city stated i must cut the limbs or they would come out and cut them and in return they would send me the bill to pay the city.... WOOOAH!! And if i didn't pay the city within 10 business days they would put a lien on my home...... Any comments or suggestions will be welcome.
If the tree is on your property the overhanging branches is your problem so CUT THEM.........if the tree is on Gov. property and still overhanging it's not yoru problem.......however........CUT THEM....You're always better to keep the city out of it if you can like they said above. However it wouldn't hurt to call and ask if they misunderstood the property lines.
Hope you don't get your house taken away ha ha. If you do it's prob just because you were too lazy to cut a few lousy limbs.
I believe I would cut the tree limps, but that's just me. I like cutting tree limps.
The tree is actually your property but is on the city's right of way. Cut the limbs and keep the city out of it.
nothing to do with laziness Jbolls. ... tree limbs are 12' tall towards the street side away from my property.... again nothing to do with laziness just want to be fair about it since i'd like to see my taxes go somewhere where youre treated failry.... it's our first home and wanted some input on anyone's past experience but too bad i slao get some iditoic responses. .but oh well life goes on.just got an email from the city mayor's office with a response that if the limbs are facing the street then theywill take care of it and he apologized for the letter. thanks for nothing http://www.guys.night

Hey sorry didn't mean for that to come across so negative towards you. Just wanted to send my apologies. Just trying to say if you can do anything at all to keep the Gov. out of it it's better to go ahead and do it. Once again lazy wasn't the best choice of words and hope you got it worked out.
