Finding Property Owners

snowmans profile photo

I currently have a list of abandoned properties and Im having trouble locating the property owners. The reason is the owners last known address is also the address of the abandoned property. What other resources are available besides tax rolls that will lead me to the owners?

Thanks for your advice

You need a skiptracing service to track them down. There are several you can choose from. Just google "skip tracing"

And if you don’t find the owners then just wait for the tax sale. Depending on if you are a lien or deed state then you may or may not have additional wait time. Also check with your city enforcement people and see how they will work with you on the litigation issue if you do purchase the properties at tax sale. I somehow purchased a property at a tax sale (my buyer got on the wrong line or wrong bid number) and a little latter I received a letter from the building inspector that the property was condemned. I called and talked to the inspector, he was very nice and told me the only thing I needed to do at this time was mow the yard so as to make the outside appearance “look a little nicer”. This was Friday evening and by Monday morning it looked like a new place. Inspector putting everything on hold until after redemption period is over. I just noticed the date of this post but this info might be helpful later
