College Student: Where Do I Start?

KevinCooke profile photo

Hello, I am a 19 year old college student. I absolutely love Real Estate, as I have been working as a personal assistant to a broker for three years. I was just wondering: Where do I start, and is it even possible to invest with limited credit and limited financial ability at such a young age? Please help, thank you very much!

I would suggest building a foundation of financial knowledge. You might trying reading the first book, "RichDad PoorDad" book by Robert Kiyosaki.

Try finding a group of people in your area who play Cashflow 101 - teaching wise principles.

I am currently going thru Rich Dad Coaching to build my knowledge base.

These are just a few simple suggestions. Good luck and God Bless null

No offense rickspfld, but rich dad, poor dad offers terrible financial advice.

Some of the bad advice author Kiyosaki gives in rich dad, poor dad:

    - challenges the belief that your house is an asset (?)

    - Has an anti-education bias

    - suggest to avoid mutual funds and 401(k)s because they are too risky

    - says by working harder, you simply increase the amount of taxes taken by the government.

Here are some links you might want to read about rich dad:

I also have to add, I played the Cashflow game once and I thought it was an OK game, but it is just a game. The Cash flow game is not teaching you any more than Risk or Monopoly. The inventors of the game made the board and the cards and they obviously decided to heavily weigh real estate over other investments.

If you wanna play Cashflow 101, find some other person (sucker ) that has it. It cost $199.00. [ Edited by d_random on Date 08/02/2005 ]
