Recommended Book/course?

sevimli profile photo

I learned tax lien and deed from a junk email. Somebody was trying to sell his course. Then I began to search on the net, book stores, libraries (NYC law library is open just weekdays and business hours) . But there is very limited info. And there is just one book %16 solution in book stores. And on the net, they are sold in many different prices, some just $20, some more than $1000. I got basic information. I need detailed info base on current laws. Anybody can recommend good book or course which is really worthy? Also if anybody knows how I can get more info about NY tax lien, NY and HI tax deed sales procedure.
thanks

Thank you for your answer, But there is a conversation about him in this form. And not so good.

I really hate to do this -- as the company markets additional "services" that I find over-priced, but www.taxsalelist.com actually has some good material explaining tax sales very well. It also has state specific information regarding the legal process for each state (but not at the country level).

So if you really don't have any other sources (RE clubs, don't like the "16% Solution" book and want to avoid Ted Thomas and John Beck) then this might be a good option for you.

Beware that they will try to sell you other material.... So buyer beware...

Thank you for your answer Glenn.
I actually read %16 solution, it's good for begining, although it has no info about NY. There is one RE club in NYC I just sent an email to get more info, and I'll check it. And I don't want to buy a/some books/courses blindly on the net.
Finding the right source is the first deal. After a con artist boyfriend, and then a dear (!) friend who said his brother has a mortgage company. But I learned in the last moment he has no mortgage company, he even doesn’t work there. Basically somebody on the street. Another dear (!) friend who attacked me with 2 sharp tools to ruin my fur. And then tax lien. There are some web sites which give some info about which states have tax lien, interest percentage and redeem period. But the info in some parts is different. So, how can I trust what they sell. Especially the prices are so different (from around $1000 to $20 (actually there is 1 cent discount)) And there are some other features like membership, etc. Besides tax lien investment, selling the materials look also pretty big market, too. So, it’s better to ask somebody who has experience about them. They say what they sell and one of them: the list of counties’ names and contact phone numbers is already free on the net. Also I think all of them are good sources to get general info. But next step is the question. And I don't know which one has. I’m checking the web site you said. It’s great to learn from experts who actually tried. Thank you again.

Well, in spite of what you have read, I do recommend John Beck's material as very good for the price. There are a couple of things people don't like: in the past the material was not promptly shipped. I believe this is not a problem any more. Also, the solicitation for the "coaching" program. That is an easy one, just don't sign up.

The other thing is that the material is a little poorly organized. However, given the price there is a lot of good information there. IT coverals all states, Canadian Provinces, and USA territories. Far better tto pay $50 for that than pay $79 for each state to Roy Stubblefield, I'd say.
Note, I do think of John Beck as a friend. But I have learned a lot from him and I have earned a lot from tax sales purchases.
