Cook County IL Scavenger Tax Sale

neddyflanders2k profile photo

I am considering buying properties at the Cook County, IL Scavenger Tax sale. If the current owner of the property does not redeem the tax bill within 6 months, the propery becomes mine.

Is anyone familiar with the process after you purchase the taxes at the auction?
If so, please educate me.

Nice to met chu ole chi-twn chum...or is it fish chum-2-U????

    AnyWho ...

The CC Scav-Sale is the Chum Bucket of the regular Tax Sale.

These left over pieces involve marginal props and are not as desirable as those prop-taxes sold in the reg. sale.

If you are the adventuresome sort you could investigate and visit some of the properties avl. on the scav sale list as well as do a title search.

If the properties look like potential winners for you in your REI objectives.

    I hope this helps!

    Derrick-

Have you purchased at the Cook County Scavenger before? Are there any diamonds in the rough to be found?

Any information regarding the process would be much appreciated.

I am considering heading to the sale, also. 11/7 is the last day to register, and it $100 just to do that! This real estate gig is costing me a fortune and I have yet to buy my first property.

Does anyone have the list and want to share the cost? It's $250 to buy it.

Any advice for a newbie? Is this a good way to get started in R.E.? I'm looking for any advise that will keep me from plunking down more $ on useless publications. Thanks!
