Using IRA Or Pre-tax Monies For REI

Not sure where to post on TCI so I will try it here.

Is there anyone who knows about using money that is currently in a pre-tax account, i.e., IRA or 401K, to invest in rental/income properties? I have heard that this is possible, that there are an assortment of the obligatory forms, etc and am looking for info. Thx in advance for any help.

Mark

    Sure, and it's done daily.

Lots of IRA money in promissory notes and RE.

Find Equity Trust or MidOhio on web and their 800 # so you can question their customer relations people directly about how to go about this, using a SDIRA (Self-Directed IRA) Trustee like them..

I purchased a book from Barnes & Noble that discusses this topic. The title is" IRA Wealth - Revolutionary IRA strategies for Real Estate Investment." The author is Patrick W Rice. I found it an excellent guide to the rules and the do's and don;t of the IRA world.
