Taxes On Assignment Fees
if I decide to just assign my contract to a buyer instead of doing a double closing, is there still a tax liability on my part? If I do the double closing, I pay taxes on my gain at ordinary income rates. If i do the assignment, then is there a tax due? does the assignee have to note the assignee fee anywhere as far as taxes?
