An EIN is the equivalent of a Social Security #. So, if you intend to ever get a loan in your LLC, cellphone, checking account, things like that, odds are, you'll at some point need one. It's an easy thing to get, just go to the irs website, download a form, fill it out, then call them at an 800 #, and they'll give it to you right there on the phone...
