I guess I will have to buy Johns' book as well, but what I have read so far on this site, lease option and subject to are one in the same right?

    lafinancia,

    Glad to meet you.

Subject To and Lease Option are totally different methods of investing.

With Subject To we get the deed, so we own the property. You get more down payment when selling, your buyer claims the interest they pay on their taxes, plus many benefits for you and your buyer.

Lease option you are renting the property with a lease from the owner. Anything that happens to the owner happens to the property. Your buyers are renting, so thier motivation to re-finance the property is not as strong.

These are a few of the differences, it is easy to get the deed, the majority of Lease Option investors realize that it is easy to get the deed and there is more money to be made when they do.
