One Piece Of Advice

kismet26 profile photo

Hi everyone! My name is Cara Gandy, i'm from Vermont. I've almost completed John $Cash$'s training course, and I can't be more excited! I have looked back on my life (all of 20 years grin) and after reviewing the different steps i've taken in my life, i realize now that HOUSES are what i have been really interested in. i've done CAD, drawing houses on the computer as well as by hand. I've always been interested in interior design, and i started going to college for marketing, and stumbled upon Retire Young, Retire Rich by Robert Kiyosaki and got really excited about Real Estate.
To make a long story short, I am in Plant City FL, helping my uncle with Pre-Forclosures, and just getting my feet wet, keeping up my dream of owning houses and making money.

I am still in college now, but i feel like i have all the right 'signs' to go ahead with Sub-2's. I just attented the seminar here in Plant city today, and am just crazy excited. I feel like i've been handed a silver platter, and ready to run!

I am looking for investors who have one great piece of advice that i can take and run with!! wink

THANKS! Cara Gandy

p.s. what were some of your feelings when you first started out??

Well the one bit of advice I'd give is go for it! Way too often I see newbies attempting to get the answer to every possible question before they make an offer on a piece of property. Don' be foolish. Don't be reckless. But if you see a deal that works get out your pen and write an offer.

haha thanks for the advice, i WILL keep the advice grin. Just about every investor i've talked with in my short time learning this, has told me not to worry about every detail to be learned, and just get out there and do it. It seems to me like it isn't that hard to learn after the initial dive. Thank you! Cara 8-)

here is my bit of advice "know everything about what you are doing, and if someone else in your area is doing better then you or knows more then you, than find a way to distinguish yourself, in other words find out what you offer that they dont. oh yeah work very hard but always have fun doing it"

    Cara,
I think you're doing all of the right things by learning as much as you can. If you're planning on doing this by yourself when you go back to school, then just set a goal to start on a certain day and start your marketing. You don't even have to spend a lot to get started. My first batch of names of prospects came off of the computer in the courthouse (for free).

Good luck with school and CREI, and I enjoyed meeting you in Plant City.

You guys are all so very helpful, and i really appreciate it! grin I am planning on going back to school this fall for my junior year, but i am also planning playing around with some marketing, and having fun with that( thanks for that piece of advice wink).
Funny as it is, I'm majoring in marketing/comm/advertising. haha! So, now it seems reasonable to find a REIA in Springfield MA and keep up to date while in school. My plan is to market around my area until i start getting busy with sub2's and see how much school gets in the way...which i'm planning on. Thanks again! You guys are the best!

Cara, you're smart to start at your age! My advise...jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down. The Cashman and others will be there to help show you how the wings are made.
    Good luck,
    Todd
