Go to the county clerk or property recorder's office and check the records or go to a title company and have them do a search

What does it cost to have a title search done?

it costs anywhere from 50-200$ depending on who you use. best thing to do if you want to actually learn something, is go to the clerks office and look for someone who has a breifcase and a stack of papers and is looking at all the recorded deeds, tell them you will give them 50 bucks to show you how to do a title search, they can even show you on one of there own that there working on so it doesnt wast there time. this way you will know how to do it yourself. you should probably always order a title search anyways but its good to know what your getting yourself into before you spend 200.

P.S. do a search of this forum for "Title Search" i know there have been a ton of posts on it, even a step by step article has been writen.[ Edited by ZinOrganization on Date 12/11/2004 ]
