Is The Pittsburgh Area A Good Area For Real Estate Investment?

I see a lot of houses in the Pittsburgh area that are reasonably priced. How is the market in general in that area? Is there money to be made in rentals? Do houses sell quickly?

That depends on the area. Some areas are more desireable than others as you can guess. I sell real estate in parts of Westmoreland, Armstrong, parts of Allegheny and Indiana Counties and each have their strong thriving areas. So if you give me an idea where around Pittsburgh you are looking I can try to give you an idea about the better areas. Some to look for: Mount Lebanon, Fox Chapel, Shadyside, Upper St. Clair, Indiana Twp, Murrysville to name a few. Hope this helps. Plus in some of the smaller communities further out of Pittsburgh you can pick up good properties. We had a 4 unit rental, bringing in $1525/mo listed for $55,000, it sold in 3 days.

    well, Joann,

The area you are pointing are really nice neighborhood. www.Mt.Lebanon, Fox Chapel(where Terasa Heinz Kerry lives and raises her family), Swickley and upper st. Clair are the four oldest nice neighborhood. Shadyside is good too but it is in the city. Of course other new nice blooming communities such as Peters township of washington county or cranberry of butler county. But it is hard to get reasonable priced houses. like the house i am persuing is asking 160k with that kind of condition? short sale is a different story though
