Is Short Sale Still An Option?

I am a new member of TCI an I have learned alot from all of the postings on this website and I would appreciate any info on this subject.
I have a homeowner who is in foreclosure and his auction date is this monday He owes 66,000 and his assesed value is 62,000. He has signed a power of attorney for me to speak with GMAC but it is so close to the auction date that I will not be able to request a extension for the auction. when the house gets auctioned can I have the homeowner request a confirmation hold and then try to short sale the mortgage or should I just walk away and move on the the next one? confused

    I would move on to the next one. When you catch them right out of them gate, it will give you the needed time to work them out!
