Wooden Baseboard In Bathroom

FMoore profile photo

I am thinking of using a wooden baseboard instead of the "usual" plastic moulding in the bathroom.

Pros/cons?

Anyone have suggestions on how to protect it from moisture?

For many years, before plastic, they used wood. You just need to seal it with some clear polyurathane after your stain or if psainting, paint on both sides before installing it. I also, caulk the bottom side to prevent water getting under it and ruining the sub floor. Good luck and make $$$

People use wood baseboards all the time in their bathrooms. Just make sure
it is primered with 2 coats of paint.

    Hello Frank,

In Michigan it is common to use wood base. Install it, caulk it, prime it, and paint it. That's all you need to do
