Updating Electrical For Safety

d_random profile photo

I have a duplex that has 60amp on one side and 100amp on the other. I am thinking of having it upgraded for safety concerns to 200amp. Each side has (3) window A/C units, washer/dryer, dishwasher, refrigarator, stove.

Any opinions?

Has a licensed electrician determined your current setup is unsafe?

I updated one because the inspector said my box manufacturer had been delisted because of the number of fires their boxes caused.

Another was replaced when I upgraded the kitchen and needed a lot more circuits under the current electrical code. I went from 60 to 200 amps because the cost to install a 200 amp vs. 100 was $50.

I just thought that 200 amp was the standard and with all those appliances it might be a hazzard and overwhelm the current setup. Not really sure how it works.
