Tub Without Shower

billfaith profile photo

I am looking at a place with a claw foot tub with no shower. I would like to add a shower but keep the tub. Is there a way to add a shower, even if just one of those hand shower things, when all you have is a faucet and spout attached to the tub? I dont know if its feasible to cut into the wall with the way its set up.

opening up the wall, and changing the diverter is a pretty str8 forward task.

My advice is to pay him for the time and material he has in the job and bid him a farewell. For you to "restructure" the contract would show your ignorance. There are plenty of legit contractors out there who not only have sufficient credit but can make their payroll for several weeks if not a month or two. I suggest you find one of them.

I say to bid him farewell, if you have to buy materials and pay his payroll then you are in effect becoming the GC. get another GC and move on.
better to make them angry now than to pay later.

I would smooth it out with a sledgehammer.

In all seriousness, for the time and aggravation, I prefer to tear down, board, replaster, paint and move on.

    Good Luck.

if it is indeed plaster then have it replastered by a professional, the cost is not that much and it will be better and keep with the character of the property.
