Stripping Paint From Fence

ccdcarr profile photo

I have a wooden shadow box fence surrounding the backyard. The outside of the fence facing the neighbors had been painted when I acquired the property. I have tried stripping off the paint by using a gel type stripping product and pressure washing the fence exterior. I had very limited success. Any suggestions. I would like to strip the fence down to the natural finish and then perhaps stain it for some protection. I have about 80 feet of 6' fence I would like to strip the paint from.

I've got to ask if its really worth it? Paint it white and be done with it, IMHO...Is it that bad? I don't see why power washing didn't take it off...I can cut a hole in a fence with a good power washer...

I would think you are doing something wrong in regard to power washing, or you don't have a true power washer, but one of those power sprayers they sell homeowners. Like said a power washer will strip the sin off a 2 dollar whore. If the fence has paint and not stain, it should all come off.

Hi Mr. Re-Habinator. Are you SURE you're not from the South, with your quaint phrases? I've not heard the "Strip the sin from a 2-Dollar whore" before, but it definitely sounds like a homily you'd only hear in the South!! lolol
