Rehab For Self

I recently saw this house on an acre lot. Everything about the house(location, neighborhood, schools, lot) is excellent, but the house. The house has the weirdest floor plan. U enter into the master bedroom and then 1 long corridor on the sides of which are living room, kitchen, bathroom, exit to frontyard. from the master is the stairs to go to the 2nd level 2 rooms.

My question is about how much does it cost to demolish the house from the inside and rebuild/reorganize everything around. the exterior is brick and well maintained. I am a first time buyer looking for a house for myself.

This is a 3000sq ft house.

Thankyou

SK

Get a contractor that is not a putz to go through the house with you and doing a combination of what Ypo said and changing a few things on the interior you may be able to come up with something decent.

I have removed many load bearing walls without mishap or noticeable support by using steel and "hanging" the ceiling joists from them to open up rooms and change layouts.

    Get a bid and see...

Thanks a lot for the info. My Gut was suggesting a rebuild. I have an appointment set with a contractor to visit the house.
I would still like to know a dollar value of how much a rebuild costs if one extends the foundation by 1000sq ft. and also if u build on the exisitng foundation slab of 2200 sq feet.
the numbers are just to have a perspective while interviewing and exploring options with contractors. I will update you all with what i decide
    thanks a ton

You should seriously consider getting permits for all this too(assuming the town requires them). The last thing you need is a neighbor to report the activity and the town shuts your job site down in the middle of renovations - that will cost you more then the permits.
