Propane Vs Electric

mosbyone profile photo

My new project has a 7ft tall propane tank under the kitchen in the back yard with a pipe going up through the floor to where the stove should be. I want folks opinions on what I should do. Keep the propane and build a screen of some sort around it or switch it out for a high end electric range. The rest of the house is electric.

Thanks folks

Paul

Contact your local fire dept and town hall to find out if it can be buried in the ground. We do this in Mass and it works out well.

I have had both and prefer propane.

In NJ, you can get a propane tank burried for free, but you must sign an exclusive contract with a supplier. They bury one of their tanks for free. It would be your responsibility to get a plumber to run the lines into the house. The tank you currently have probably is not listed for direct burial.

Personally, I prefer gas or propane to cook. It is also more efficient for heat, hot water, and clothes drier than electric.
