Permits...

How long do Permits typically take to get to do work?

I am rennovating a home in a historic district, it has been a month and my contractor keeps telling me he's waiting on the permits....well actually he isn't telling me anything. He avoids me like the plague lately.

Besides that...how long do they typically take?

I just spent 6 weeks waiting for a permit in historic Annapolis Md. But it sounds like maybe you should go directly to the town and make sure it is in the works. Good Luck

Florida is like no other place when it comes to permits. What I can get in a day in Atlanta area takes me up to 3 months in south Florida especially if it invloves any structural or architecture drawings. Make sure he has a plan review number then with the plan review number anyone can call for a status on the different sections of permit approval ie. structural, mechanicals, zoning etc etc. If he has no plan review number then he hasn't even applied for it yet.
