How To Dress Up A Cracked Slab?

ceedee profile photo

The repairs will soon be completed and I am hoping that after they do the cut out and repour the slab will have no ridge. I am trying to plan for the flooring, carpet vs. hardwood, tile? Any suggestions?

Depends on what you want. Any decent flooring person can just use some floor leveling compond to taper the seam. Carpet would be cheaper and the carpet with a thick pad would be more forgiving.

    Greetings Ceedee,

Whoever is doing the slab work should be able to even it out and eliminate any noticeable ridges. But as rayh78 pointed out, if they don’t, a good flooring person can correct a lot.

I just finished a rehab that had major foundation and plumbing repair, and they had to go through the slab in multiple places. I did carpet throughout most of the house. But even where I did tile and wood, you would never know anything had been done to the slab. And the flooring people didn’t have to fix any slab seams or ridges.

So, try to keep the burden on the people doing the slab work.
