Home Depot ProBook CD Or Book
Hi:
Everyone seems to recommend this book when tryng to estimate repairs. However, I went to two Home Depots and no one there seems to know what I am talking about. The only book I could find on my own was a Home Inprovement Book which wasn't very helpful. For those of you who have this book, did you purchase it recently?

If you go to the Contractor's desk they should have a CD-Rom called ProBook CD and The Worksite CD. This is a freebie for contractors and allows you to estimate costs in excrutiating detail.
This use to be a free give away but I'm not certain if they still have it.
I was looking for books on priceing yesterday and also could not find anything at home depot BUT did find 3 books at lowes the cost about $25.00 each
Been to two Home Depots and no luck on this CD. No one there has even heard of it. Bummer. Instead, I got the National Estimator program downloaded from Craftsman. It was about $17 or so. Haven't needed to use it yet, though.
I have a Home Depot Pro Book. Picked it up at a Home Depot in Texas...a 24 hour Home Depot at that :-D ...anyway, the binding reads "Vol 3 Southwest Texas" ...I imagine the book is slightly different depending on which part of the country your in....different climates have different needs and call for different prices.
anyway...the book exists...quite useful. I didnt know its on CDROM now....I wonder if you can order it on their website???

I picked up a "Means Residentioal Repair and remoleling Costs" book probably at HD It probably costs $30-$40 but is very detailed and can be adjusted to locality. Not a lota of money if it helps you.
I have two of the HD disks and have used National estimator extensively. IF you paid $17 you only got one small part of the 5 costbooks, probably new construction so be careful.
