Has Anyone Ever Used A Ductless Range Hood

WGA profile photo

I replaced the kitchen cabinets in a rehab and would like to install a range hood. Has anyone ever had any expereince with the ductless model? The model with the exhaust duct is really not going to be an option with this house.

In most models they are actually the same unit. When using it as a ductless unit the damper is not installed. The fan still operates but the discharge comes out of a space next to the light / fan controls on the face of the unit by removing a plastic cover next to them.

Basically it pulls the hot air up away from the cooktop area into the ceiling and then is dispursed by way of open doors or windows.

If there is minimal (window unit) or no A/C the non ducted hot air can over tax a minimal A/C system causing the house to remain hot during cooking.

Other than that, hot air that is moving is better than hot air that is stagnet.

If your range is natural gas or LP, you may encounter a problem during inspection if your local code requires the hood to be vented...Just a thought. Speaking from experience.

    Good luck!

You can pick one up at your local home depot or lowes. They are easy to install. The only real benefit from them is you get a light over your stove though. They just wire the same as a ducted one but just blow all the smoke/heat/steam up into the air hopefully above the cooks face. Really I see them being more for looks and light.

There are always at least three solutions to any problem.

    1. Get a partner
    2. Use credit cards
    3. Use a hard money lender
    4. If you finance you can borrow more than the property costs.
    5. You could wholesale the property to another investor and cash in that way.
