Handymen Or Contractor

Yhagood profile photo
I'm in the middle of my first rehab project. Everythings that needs to de done is comestic and I used a hard money lender to fund the deal. Instead of using a Contractor I would like to use experienced Handymen who came highly recommened to me. Are there any drawbacks to doing this and would I be required to have insurance for these people. Yaisa

I guess it depends on the area, here in FL you need to be licensed to do just about anything. If a license is required I would not hire unlicensed people, it's not worth the headaches if something goes wrong. I also would not have uninsured handymen working in my house.

This topic has been brought up many times...............with that said.....it comes down to this..........

how much are you willing to lose if something goes wrong.

It he screws up a paint job then can you afford to have it repainted.......if the breaks a window was it worth it........if he gets hurt on your job........who will pay his medical bills.........

Am I saying you should never use a handyman..........No,......but you need to beaware of the risk and liability involved.

Like the previous poster stated...check your local and state laws....
